Freebie Earth Day

What is Earth Day?
Earth Day is a Birthday!!

Just like a birthday is a special day to celebrate a person.
Earth Day is a special day that celebrates the Earth.
Earth Day was born on April 22, 1970, in San Francisco, California.
Every year, America and over 100 different countries join together in the celebration of Earth Day on April 22nd.
Earth Day is the largest, most celebrated environmental event worldwide.
On Earth Day, we remember to appreciate nature and learn ways to protect our environment. Find ways that you can help keep the planet clean and help protect our environment!

Nine really important Things You and Your Family can do to help the environment!!

1. Shop locally: Walk to a store near your house, Go to one store for every need instead of driving all around town for to different items, if a store like that is to far away then ride a bike or a skateboard etc., By doing these you will already be saving the earth and tons of $.

2. Reduce Recycle Reuse: Reduce the amount of trash by buying stuff with less packaging. Recycle used plastic, paper, aluminum, and Styrofoam. Reuse old leather, clothing etc.
Recycle as much as you can. Glass, paper and cans are widespread recycling options. You can also recycle old electronics. Even donate old clothes to keep them out of the trash. Have your children help you sort recycled items and talk to them about why you're doing it.

3. Use less energy you will save Money and the earth: Turn off appliances when you are not using them. It might not make sense to a kid to turn off every light in their house before they leave their house, This is the biggest money saver of all , and by turning off all of the lights you will save the earth the sun and us.

4. Eating: If you learn to cook yourself a meal you will be reducing the amount of pollution in the world. Why, because most people in America buy fast food every day and half the people who buy fast food throw the thrash on the ground.

5. Saving trees: Use Sunday comics as wrapping paper.

6. Put rotten food in the Compost. Also if you don’t have a compost don’t buy one make one.

7. Teach children to love and respect nature by taking walks. While walking, talk about the flowers, the trees and the animals you see around you. For toddlers, collect bits of nature from outside and sort them by color or texture. Trade a usual tourist spot for a trip to the park, zoo or aquarium.

8. Plant a tree, seed, flower or garden. Let your child enjoy watching it grow. Increasing plant and tree growth also increases oxygen. Take it a step further by making your own compost pile with food scrapes. Then use the compost on your new planting.

9. Conserve water and electricity. Teach your kids to turn off the water when they brush their teeth. Take short showers. Turn off lights when you don't need them and unplug electronics and appliances when they aren't in use..
